AL80 manufacturing - kewl.
I've seen the process of making a steel tank on Discovery channel. Main difference I see is how the neck was closed (they had some process that involved a robotic blow-torch and a shaping wheel to smush it into the right shape).
Interesting that they have processes in after the testing phase where they do things that we are all taught that we shouldn't do - like sanding down a tank or painting it and baking it on. I assume the materials engineers know just how much they can grind off and heat it and still be safe  |
